Saudi Arabia has taken a major step forward in enhancing its position as a global logistics hub by launching a $184 million (SAR 689 million) logistics corridor linking Jeddah Islamic Port to the Al-Khumrah Logistics Park. The strategic infrastructure project, officially launched by the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani), is designed to streamline cargo movement, reduce congestion, and elevate port efficiency in one of the Kingdom’s busiest trade gateways.

Spanning 17 kilometers, the new corridor will feature two lanes in each direction, 12 overpasses, emergency lanes, and dedicated facilities for maintenance and drainage. This infrastructure is not only meant to support the efficient movement of trucks but also aims to minimize urban traffic congestion, reduce noise pollution, and enhance safety by diverting heavy vehicles away from residential zones. The modern logistics setup aligns perfectly with Vision 2030’s goal to make Saudi Arabia a top-tier logistics and transport hub connecting Asia, Africa, and Europe.
The new corridor is expected to increase Jeddah Islamic Port’s capacity by at least 10%, enabling it to handle more cargo with quicker turnaround times. This is crucial for a port that already plays a central role in Saudi Arabia’s import and export economy. With smoother cargo flow from the port to inland logistics zones, importers, exporters, and freight operators will benefit from lower operational costs and improved reliability in the supply chain. Moreover, the project will unlock new opportunities for public-private partnerships and foreign investment, especially in the logistics, warehousing, and transport sectors. With reduced delays and higher efficiency, the corridor is set to attract global freight operators and third-party logistics providers who are looking to expand their footprint in the Middle East. Ultimately, this corridor represents more than just infrastructure—it’s a foundational element in Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to diversify its economy and reduce its dependence on oil. As the global economy shifts toward more efficient and integrated supply chains, projects like this position Saudi Arabia at the center of global trade, logistics, and innovation
