Saudi Global Ports (SGP) has officially begun operations at the Jubail Container Terminal (JCT), located at Jubail Commercial Port, under a 30-year privatization agreement with the Saudi Ports Authority. This milestone is a key step in developing Saudi Arabia's logistics infrastructure and improving supply chain efficiency and connectivity, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

Under the agreement, SGP will invest around SAR 2 billion throughout the concession period to upgrade the terminal's infrastructure and bring in advanced equipment. The upgrades include extending the berth length from 1,000 metres to 1,400 metres, deepening the berth draft from 14 metres to 18 metres, increasing ship-to-shore (STS) cranes from 6 to 10, and raising the number of RTG cranes from 13 to 29. These improvements will allow the terminal to handle larger, next-generation vessels.
As a result of these upgrades, the terminal's annual container handling capacity will grow from 1.5 million TEU to 2.4 million TEU. The integration of Jubail Container Terminal into SGP's existing network along Saudi Arabia's Eastern Coast is expected to improve operational coordination, better utilize capacity, and offer more flexible supply chain solutions for customers across the region.
